Early Course Enrollment

Type: Enrollment
Effective Date: 6/1/2012

Early course enrollment occurs in the middle of each Fall and Spring term for the subsequent term. It is open to all continuing students. If you are a continuing student, this is the preferred time to enroll because it is your earliest opportunity to select courses, and most courses still have openings. After you have enrolled, you may adjust your schedule, if needed, by adding or dropping courses.

Early course enrollment is set up so different groups of students enroll at different times according to class level and other priorities. A few weeks before early course enrollment, NAU will notify you by e-mail that your early enrollment appointment has been assigned and is viewable in your LOUIE Student Center.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Prerequisites

Please be aware that you cannot enroll in a course that has prerequisites you have not met. See the course catalog and schedule of classes (NAU–LOUIE) to determine if courses in which you wish to enroll have prerequisite requirements.

After your course enrollment is processed, you are notified by e-mail about the amount of tuition you owe.

You are not considered to be officially enrolled until you have paid your tuition and fees or have had arrangements for such payments approved by Student and Departmental Account Services (SDAS) (formerly known as the Bursar’s Office). You may pay via the Web through the LOUIE system using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, JCB or E-check.

  • Credit and debit cards are not accepted in-person, over the phone, by mail, or by facsimile for payment of tuition, room, board or other fee charges posted to students' accounts. If you pay by credit/debit card, you must do so via the Web, through LOUIE.

Fees may apply. See Student & Departmental Account Services for current fees.

To take advantage of Early Course Enrollment, enroll via the Web using the LOUIE system or in person at any of the university’s advising centers or at the Registrar’s Office. You are encouraged to enroll online. You can find information about enrollment dates and related deadlines at the Registrar's Calendars.

Financial Implications: Be aware that eligibility for financial aid, Veterans assistance, and university housing may be impacted by the number of units a student is enrolled. Please contact Financial Aid: nau.edu/finaid/.
