Bachelor/Juris Doctor 3+3 program

Type: Definitions
Effective Date: 2/9/2017

Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law participate in a joint program which allows outstanding students to substitute their final year of undergraduate studies with their first year of law school and earn an undergraduate (BS or BA) and law (JD) degree in six years instead of seven years.

Students must complete all undergraduate degree requirements with a minimum of 90 units by the end of their junior year. The first year of juris doctor required coursework (30 units) substitutes for the final year of undergraduate study (minimum 120 total units).  Upon successful completion of the first year of study at the James E. Rogers College of Law, students will be awarded their undergraduate degree from NAU.

When applicable, a student should choose a minor that satisfies a student’s interests but also includes coursework to help prepare for Law School. Minors in Criminal Justice, English, History, Philosophy or Political Science are suggested.
